My Mother, now retired, was for many years an active research scientist in the field of hematology and immunology in my home country (Venezuela). She has always been my source of inspiration, my guide, and mentor.
Dr. Irene Tami-Maury is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral Science at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Tami-Maury conducts research on four specific areas: 1) tobacco prevention and control in vulnerable populations (e.g., people living with HIV/AIDS, individuals infected with tuberculosis, cancer patients, immigrants, LGBT individuals); 2) non-cigarette tobacco product use; 3) dentistry's role in cancer prevention, specifically tobacco control; and 4) web-based research and e-learning/training.
