Dr. Piña-Watson is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology Program within the Department of Psychological Sciences at Texas Tech University. Her research is focused on understanding how individual factors (e.g., gender, sexuality, etc.), family dynamics, culture and society impact Latina/o adolescent and emerging adult depression, suicidality, risky health behaviors (e.g., sexual and substance use) and well-being (e.g., self-esteem, life satisfaction, quality of life, positive academic outcomes). Dr. Piña-Watson's work takes a holistic and resiliency approach to creating intervention and prevention programs to address Latina/o mental health disparities.
