Predictors of growth trajectories of substance use from 9th to 11th grade among Hispanic adolescents in Southern California

Previous studies have investigated cultural risk and protective factors for substance use among Hispanic adolescents...However, few studies have investigated these associations longitudinally. Welcome Message from the Editor of El Faro: La Voz de la Red, Dr. Liliane Cambraia Windsor

The current El Faro issue is an extension of the conference in that we will focus on the prevalence and treatment of tobacco and nicotine among Latinos. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have identified smoking as the major risk factor for developing lung cancer. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among Hispanics. Thus finding ways to encourage the Hispanic population to abstain from smoking is a critical task among researchers and health providers in the United States. (View Full Article)
