Information about the 2008 Conference
Conference Fees
The NHSN eighthh Annual Conference does not have a conference registration fee. However, there are costs associated with the conference, such as travel, lodging and meals.
Most participants will be responsible for their own expenses related to this conference. NHSN will cover travel expenses for presenters and committee members. As in past years, a limited number of travel awards will be available based on availability of funds, with priority given to Poster Session presenters, graduate students, and early career scientists. You will be provided an opportunity to request a travel award when you register for the conference online.
Hotel Lodging Rates
The 2008 conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda in Bethesda, Maryland, D.C. Please note that the Federal government has adjusted their per diem for many cities and the Washington, DC metro area is affected. Beginning October 2008 of this year the new Federal per diem for lodging will be $233.00 per night (with 13% tax = $263.29). This means that the rooms on Monday and Tuesday (September 29 & 30) will not be affected and the rate is $201 (with 13% tax =$227.00). However, beginning on Wednesday the 1st, the remaining rooms will now be confirmed at the $233.00 Federal Government Per Diem rate.
This is the federal government rate for D.C. in effect during the conference dates. However, please note that the federal Government rate is subject to change on October 1, 2008. D.C. is classified as a non-smoking municipality.
Hotel Parking Rates
The Hyatt Regency Bethesda is connected to Monument Parking Garage and offers garage parking directly below the hotel for guests. Current self-parking daily rates are (3-24 hours) $10.00 and overnight parking $15.00. (Sun-Thurs) and $12.00 (Fri-Sat). Valet parking rates are $20.00 (Sun-Thurs nights) and $17.00 (Fri and Sat nights). For further information on parking, please click here.
Meal Function Fees
If you are staying at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, the NHSN has arranged to bill the cost of your selected meal functions to your hotel room. Please understand that we are obligated to make arrangements with the hotel regarding the number of attendees at meal functions well in advance of the date of the function. The NHSN is unable to assume the additional costs associated with on-site cancellations of meal functions. Therefore, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible if you will not be attending a meal function. Please note that once you have registered for a meal function and are on site at the hotel, we will not be able to accept a cancellation of a meal function, and your room will be billed for the cost of the meal. Please note all meal function fees are inclusive of tax and gratuities.

Mentoring Lunch: $33.00 . The price will include taxes and service charges regardless of which lunch selection is chosen (Chicken, Tuna and Vegetarian).

Annual Awards Dinner - The prices listed for the meal selections include tax and service charges.
